Charles River Laboratories International is a contract research organization (CRO) providing biotech research and development solutions. It operates through three segments: Research Models and Services (RMS), Discovery and Safety Assessment (DSA), and Manufacturing Solutions. The RMS segment offers research models, genetically engineered models and services, insourcing solutions, and research animal diagnostic services, as well as controlled, consistent, customized primary cells and blood components derived from normal and mobilized peripheral blood, bone marrow, and cord blood. The DSA segment provides regulated and non-regulated DSA services, including in vitro and in vivo studies, laboratory support services, and strategic non-clinical consulting and program management to support product development. The Manufacturing Solutions segment performs specialized testing of biologics, supplies fertile chicken eggs and chickens, and delivers in vitro methods for conventional and rapid quality control testing of sterile and non-sterile biopharmaceutical and consumer products.
